DTF6000 Trailfinder
Relaible Optical Position Scanner
The DTF6000 Trailfinder uses an internal micro-processor and multiplexed 20 diode InGaAs diode array that is scanned in 2ms and segmented into a 40bit output resulting in fast and accurate detection of a passing product’s hot edge position.
There are 2 models, either with a 30° (DTF6015) and 45° (DTF6022) field of view. The DTF6000 Pathfinder is available with a 1-10VDC or 4-20mA analogue output as well as a digital detection output. There are options available with ±10VDC and ±15VDC outputs. Furthermore, the DTF6000 Trailfinder has a built-in self test and continuous checking facility giving un-rivalled performance and reliability.
Old style Optical Position Scanners typically detect the product above a pre-set threshold whereas the Trailfinder operates via a floating programmable Control Margin based on the background IR signal. This ensures precise and repetitive positioning output regardless of the product’s size and temperature, or variation in background IR. This means that hot scale, lens contamination, steam or hot scale in the background that other scanners struggle with, does not adversely affect the Trailfinder’s performance.
As the Trailfinder operates by comparing the hot product and the background IR signal neither hot scale or steam within the scanners field of view will cause false triggering. Also, its trip level will not be raised due to any lens contamination. Furthermore, the DTF6000’s high level of reliability and accuracy is due to its use of an InGaAs Diode Array which ensures fast and accurate detection of both the leading and trailing edges of the product, even when there is a wide range of IR signals present. Regular analogue Loopers with their single diodes and motorised optics or CCD Scanners struggle to match its speed or accuracy.
Ideally suited to detect both Rod or Strip, both the leading and trailing edge response times are digitally adjusted via locking timers from 1ms to 250ms. Uniquely, to assist in its alignment the Trailfinder replicates the product path by a 10 bar LED Display that is also used to adjust the control margin and response time.
The Trailfinder’s response time can be set precisely in order to allow for black spots on the product without losing any detection accuracy regardless of the product’s size or temperature. This means it is ideally suited for Loop Control, the position of rod or bar and for edge detection & positioning of hot product.
The DTF6000 Trailfinder is available for either 80-210VAC or 24VDC connection via an IP66 watertight plug/socket. The housing is constructed from cast AL6 aluminium with the watertight rating of IP66/DIN 89011 and is finished in an oven-baked blue paint. Cooling is supplied via water passing through a large side cooling chamber in closed loop copper radiator.
Non-instrument air can be used as air purge as a deflector is inserted in the front of the lens allowing the use of non-instrument air. Additional cooling can be provided by using an in-line vortex tube air cooler.
