Intelligent Laser Distance Meter
These HDP5100 Series of LDMs are “intelligent” totally eye safe Class I invisible IR diverging beam Laser Distance Meters incorporating configurable measuring supervisory alarms and self check facilities using the supplied configuration software.
The HDP5100 Series is used for measurement and positioning of product, cranes and vehicles for accurate, fast detection at distances up to 1200m when using a reflector and up to 150m off natural surfaces. Alignment is achieved by a visible laser targeting beam that can be turned on as required.
Measurement is calculated by Time of Flight (TOF) of the short transmitted pulses received from the target. This data is then output via RS232/RS422 Interface, or a programmable 4-20mA analogue output. There is also two switching outputs that can be configured in logic and bandwidth. Models with a PROFIBUS DP interface are also available if necessary.
The rugged housing of the HDP5100 Series are watertight to IP65/IEC 68 rating and capable of operating in temperatures between -10°C and +55°C. Their internal temperature is also transmitted via the interface and incorporate an automatic cut-out when over temperature occurs.
Various protective housings are available including water cooled, Peltier cooled or heated enclosures/platforms to enable these sophisticated LDMs to be mounted on cranes in hot steel plants, close to the furnaces or in exposed waterside or tropical environments. As these Lasers are sophisticated devices they are ideal for heavy industrial use in exposed conditions.
Five specific models are available engineered for specific tasks;
HDP51007/510010: For detecting or measuring off product of between 3.5 and 15m
HDP510010: For short travel and crane cross travel of up to 80m off a target reflector
HDP5100100: For direct measurement of products such as Slabs on the Roller Table or Coils on the crane hoist.
HDP5100600: For long travel monitoring of crane travel as fast pulse rate of 5kHz with a range of up to 1200m off a high quality prism reflectors.
HDP510020HT: Specifically engineered for detection of hot product up to 1350°C both inside and outside of the furnace at a range of up to 20m.
