The BR22 Laser CPU is used to provide an LCD display of distance measurements and for programming the laser operational parameters via a keyboard and a user-friendly menu providing measured distance and where 2 lasers are connected, to calculate width or thickness of the product being measured. The BR22 can be configured to communicate with various laser measuring devices to provide product length, thickness, width or simply position control via an RS422 serial interface which allows for long cable runs and mounting of the CPU away from the Line.
Powered from 24VDC or 90-240VAC this CPU supplies the 24VDC power to the laser(s). The BR22 has an aluminium housing IP65 rated and can be sited in the mill with environments is between -10° and 50°C. When powered-up, the BR22 automatically starts and programs the attached laser(s) with their configured settings ready for operation.
As well as both jointly functioning RS232 & RS422 serial interfaces, where required, the BR22 has a 4-20mA analogue output of the laser distance measurement data. The BR22 also has a relay output with an adjustable threshold for product presence. The parameters for the analogue output, host serial interface and relay output as well as the laser(s) operation are configured using the keypad and displayed via a menu on the BR22 LCD display.
This is a very flexible CPU that greatly assists the user in more speedy commissioning. The operation of the lasers as well as being able to set up, their operation locally can be verified without going through the plant’s PC. Should problems or loss of accuracy occur due to hardware movement or otherwise, this is quickly corrected via this CPU. Various models are available from T.o.F. Distance Meters, Phase Shift Lasers and Triangulation Lasers, to sophisticated models that accommodate insertion of master sample with automatic auto-zeroing being available.
