Series VR504 Barrier Laser
Multiple Time of Flight Product Detection
These VR504 Barrier Lasers are designed for use on Re-heat furnaces and De-scalers as have a powerful diverging laser beam designed for penetrating the heaviest steam and furnace flames, yet is a totally eye safe 500m range Class 1 invisible IR Laser.
The VR504 works by the product to be detected passing between the Transmitter and Receiver. Detection is assured even under the most extreme conditions where high temperatures, vibration, high dust concentrations and water spray. As the VR504 operates via Class 1 Laser, there are no working restrictions and there is no need for any additional protection when in use.
It is important to note that the VR504 Barrier Laser operates by Multiple Time of Flight (TOF) pulses that are generated by the diverging beam transmitter laser beam. This ensures that even where some return beam is blocked by heavy steam, water or gas flame, detection is assured due to the multiple pulses being very powerful as have a 500m range. Alignment is easily maintained as a result of the receiver lens angle being greater than the transmitted laser beam. The optional adjustable secondary alarm is also recommended as useful tool for properly aligning and ensuring reliable operation in the harshest of applications.
LEDs provide visual indication of operation and the alarm state. The VR504-K has a secondary alarm output that can be adjusted by external micrometer according to % lens contamination and mis-alignment. The VR504-T is for faster detection frequency and its alarm response time is adjustable from 8 to 350ms. Each model of the VR504 family has a 2 Amp, 30VDC/125VAC Form C relay output as well as transistor alarm output when supplied.
Mounted in a thick robust IP65 rated stainless steel housing, the VR504 Barrier Laser is specifically built for mounting in the harshest environments. Can be supplied in totally encasing air or water cooling jacket that facilitates mounting close to furnaces or hot product. Both transmitter and receiver are supplied with swivel/lift mounting posts providing X, Y and Z axis adjustment. Optional bolt-on tempered glass shields are available to prevent lens damage when used in these situations.
Additional options available for the VR504 Barrier Laser are a Laser Alignment Kit and an Air Purge Nozzle Kit. The LAK-504-01 Alignment Kit includes a clamp on battery operated Laser Pointer and a clamp on Receiver Reflector. This kit is designed to help in aligning the transmitter with the receiver during initial set-up and maintenance. The LAP-504 Air Purge Nozzle Kit bolts onto the front of the Transmitter and Receiver and provides air purging of the front lens.
